Boyle County EMS will be hosting a Fall EMT Course in August 2010. Please click on the links below and download application and checklist. Fill out all of the required paperwork and send or drop off to:

Class is scheduled to start September 2nd 2010 with class orientation starting August 31st 2010 that students are required to attend. The student will be notified by mail, phone, email that he or she has been accepted into the course. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us. Classes will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-10 each night. Class schedule will be availble in the next few weeks.

Background Check
Initial Applicants who have not lived in KY for 5 or more years – Must use VCI as the background check policy;
All other Applicants who meet the 5 year or more KY residency requirements – May use the AOC background check ( BCEMS will take care of this )

Class Information
Thank you for your interest in the EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN Basic Program at Boyle County EMS. Below you will find all the pertinent information pertaining to the EMT courses. Please take time to read the information in its entirety to obtain all the important information that you as a perspective student need to know. We offer classes in the Spring and Fall. Cost of Course
The tuition for the course is $475.00. This fee covers instructor, books, equipment, etc. and is due at class orientation. At this time, we are using the
Brady Emergency Care textbook 11th edition. Each student will also need to either acquire or purchase a blood pressure cuff, stethoscope, and pocket face mask.
At the end of the course, there will be additional Certification fees that have to be paid to NREMT and KBEMS. Those fees are approximately $123.00. Below is a breakdown of these fees.
All fees need to be in the form of certified check or Money order.
Background check fee $18.00 due the first night of class
Application Fee: $10.00 (KBEMS) due the first night of class.
Certification Fee: $30.00 (KBEMS) due at the end of class.
Examination Fee: $70.00 (NREMT) due at the end of class when students takes CBT.
A minimum of two EMT classes a year are completed at the Boyle County EMS Training Department. Evening class meets from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. These classes meet for 4 hours in duration, 2 sessions a week. All students are given a course syllabus at class orientation. The course follows the 1994 National Standard Curriculum and is 180 hours in duration.
Class Description
The Emergency Medical Technician Basic course covers all aspects of the 1994 DOT National curriculum. Training is 180 hours in length, which includes 24 hours of clinical time. All students receive instruction in patient assessment for the medical and trauma patients anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, oxygen therapy, non-medicated IV maintenance, blood glucose monitoring, SpO2 monitoring, respiratory emergencies, cardiac emergencies, basic and advanced splinting techniques, bleeding control, diabetic emergencies, child birth, pediatric assessment, burns, environmental emergencies, principles of vehicle rescue, care for fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains, application of dressings and bandages, patient documentation skills, and awareness level hazardous materials emergencies. All students who pass this course with a overall average of 75% will be eligible to take the Kentucky EMT – Basic skills test and the National Registry of EMT’s written examination.
